@jolyonDonald Trump issued an order regarding Kim Guilfoyle's position without speaking to her first, telling reporters she dated his son a long time ago. Her final week in Athens as ambassador saw her believing the controversy would hold until Tuesday morning, but her attempts to retain the role collapsed completely. She made late-night calls, hunted for information leaks within embassy staff and security personnel, and tried networking with Marco Rubio. On the tarmac, Rubio embraced her while his team contacted Washington about damage control before he delivered a speech at the Acropolis. Guilfoyle also requested the State Department remove a Daily Mail report about an unpaid champagne bill from online platforms. She claimed text messages worth $100,000 were generated by artificial intelligence, but after reporters verified the texts with donor Eric Deters, the claim was submitted to White House officials and immediately rejected. An account from the Wall Street Journal details how these efforts failed to preserve her position. #KimberlyGuilfoyle
