Barbie sequel uncertain after offers rejected

A Barbie sequel is looking unlikely. Variety reports that Warner Bros made six offers, but Greta Gerwig, Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, and the rest of the creative team turned them all down. The clock is ticking too: if the movie doesn't move into active development in the next four months, the rights go back to Mattel. And even if someone makes another Barbie film later, it would have to start from scratch instead of continuing what Gerwig built.
