India leads the list of most vegetarian countries with 30% of its population following a plant-based diet, according to data from The Vegan Society, 2025. Mexico comes in second at 19%. Brazil and Taiwan tie for third place with 14% each. Israel sits at fifth with 13%. Sweden, Argentina, Australia, and Finland are tied for sixth with 12%. Austria ranks tenth with 11%. Denmark, Germany, Jamaica, New Zealand, United Kingdom, and Vietnam share eleventh place with 10%. Norway and Japan are tied at thirteenth with 9%. Canada, South Africa, and Poland round out the top tier at fourteenth with 8%. Kenya, Italy, Singapore, and Belgium are tied at eighteenth with 7%.
