The match began and eventually they found themselves face to face on the pitch where Nazario pointed right at him and caressed the ball in a way that left Thuram completely enchanted by what he saw. It all happened at a speed nobody had ever witnessed before in football history. On that specific day he pulled off a dribble that left Thuram standing still as he sprinted straight toward the goal. Thuram yelled out to Cannavaro: take him down, take him down. Fabio immediately committed a foul on Nazario and the referee showed him a card. In the next play Nazario threw the ball hard at Thuram forcing him to stop it with another foul. Right then Fabio leaned in and whispered: Lilian, we're going to finish tonight with 9 players. How do we stop this guy? Nazario heard every word of their conversation. He walked over to them and spoke in very basic Italian: excuse me, I'm exaggerating. Thuram and Cannavaro just looked at each other without saying a single thing. Those words made both of them feel incredibly small and almost powerless.
