Gaza students return to school in tents

School in Gaza is back in session, roughly three years after in-person learning stopped for Palestinian students there. Around 540,000 of them are expected to show up for this school year. Where they show up is the part that stays with you: tents, improvised structures, infrastructure already wrecked by the war. UNICEF says 98% of school buildings across the Gaza Strip have been damaged or destroyed. Gaza education officials put the number who went without classrooms and any steady schooling during the war with Israel at about 660,000. Hundreds of thousands are returning.
