ZINEDINE ZIDANE Panenka World Cup final

People called ZINEDINE ZIDANE crazy for his World Cup final penalty choice, yet he insists the logic was anything but irrational. The situation hinged on goalkeeper Buffon knowing Zinedine's habit of aiming right every single time. Since shooting right would have been the expected move if he were actually acting irrationally, the only solution left was to attempt a Panenka instead. That specific choice in a World Cup final is what made everyone label him as insane because nobody pulls that off there. It happened in the 7th minute of the match, and even then, Zinedine calculated that missing would still leave 83 minutes of play remaining.
