Kenjiro Tsuda Tokyo District Court ruling

Tokyo District Court just dropped a ruling that changes the game for voice rights in Japan. Kenjiro Tsuda sued TikTok over AI voice clones, and while the lawsuit got dismissed because those videos were already gone, the legal precedent is massive. This marks the first time human voice gets recognized as protected under publicity rights here. The court explained that a human voice serves as a symbol of an individual's personality similar to their image, just like image. It wasn't a small case either; it involved 188 videos published between July 2024 and September 2025. That account had around 210,000 subscribers and reportedly generated monthly earnings of ¥500,000, ¥750,000 from these videos. So even though the demand was rejected on procedural grounds, the recognition of voice as a personality symbol stands fr. #KenjiroTsuda #AI
