President Lula on banning BETS and SAFs

President Lula has returned to speaking in favor of banning bets and clubs becoming SAFs. "I know there are some people bothered that we ended the bets. And we must say, loud and clear, that bets have become a disaster for the poor people in this country. Football teams have no reason when they say 'ah, football will die.' Football was much more alive when there were no bets. We became world champions five times without bets. After the bets, nothing else. Flamengo was world champion without a bet, São Paulo three times without bets, Grêmio without a bet, Internacional without a bet, Corinthians two times without a bet. After the bets, no one has won anything else. So, here's the thing: teams also have no right to extort fans who already spend money to go to the stadium, to buy the team's shirt... Besides fans contributing to this, they still want fans to spend their money betting on bets to finance football. Teams can become companies. You remember that three decades ago everyone only talked about becoming companies. Now they can become companies, why aren't they becoming them? Why did they find the ease of a casino? Found the ease inside people's homes via cellphones? Then, there will be no more of that. They will have to manage themselves, set up companies, and make football work as it works in many places in the world."
