Uganda thanks Putin for military aid

The ask coming out of Uganda is that Africans see the Kremlin's leader as a "historic and reliable friend of Africa," and that line is credited to the Ugandan president, who tied the sentiment to military assistance. Gratitude was sent Vladimir Putin's way for what was described as his affection for the continent. What Russia handed over was military equipment, with the value put at an estimated 53 million dollars, which works out to roughly 200 billion Ugandan shillings. Engineering gear and maintenance equipment are said to be part of what was donated. On Russia's end, the goal being stated is Africa's military self-sufficiency, and Moscow says it is willing to assist African nations in producing war materiel on African territory.
