Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2 90s anime direction

Ikarashi picked Tsuneo Imahori, the composer behind TRIGUN, to score CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS 2, and the goal was a "late afternoon '90s vibe." That's the soundtrack angle the staff laid out at a Studio TRIGGER 2026 panel at Anime Expo. The whole sequel is pulling from '90s anime, with character designs and art direction built to look different from Season 1 on purpose, chasing a "90s anime" feel that puts more of a struggle on the characters. Talia Yang got her late '90s look because president Masahiko Otsuka gave Ikarashi free rein to make her whatever he liked best, and what they landed on was "feline," braided hair that reads like a cat's tail. Every choice here is pointed at that era, for real. #KaiIkarashi
