The part that gets me is that this went down right in front of Major Laurent Magogi's own plot in Masina, Kinshasa. Two suspected UDPS criminals, per the reported account, one of them armed and the other holding a young girl against her will. Before any of that, they'd reportedly let off three shots skyward, then aimed point-blank at the girl's companion. And the alleged goal went beyond the couple themselves, since seizing their motorcycle was reportedly on the list too. So the officer steps out and charges the guy with the weapon, putting himself in serious danger to do it. While that's happening, the population rallies to take down the second suspect. Whole thing plays out like an action film, except it's real and it happened at his doorstep. That's the kind of courage you don't see every day
