Jermaine Pennant dog Rey saves him

Rey didn't wait for anyone's permission. Jermaine Pennant was walking around London when a German shepherd knocked him down and tore up his leg badly enough that it took more than 50 stitches to close. That's where his American Akita stepped in, going at the other dog to defend him and keeping the damage from getting even worse. Pennant's own words afterward say plenty: "My hero. You protect me and try to take care of me. Rey, you are a legend. I love you." The former Liverpool man credits the dog with saving him from a much grimmer outcome, and honestly, the loyalty on display here is the whole story. Dogs really do put themselves between you and the worst of it.
