Mikel Arteta addresses Max Dowman

The reality check from Mikel Arteta lands hard for Max Dowman, the 16-year-old Arsenal prospect who got sent off on Tuesday. It wasn't just a standard foul; Dowman kicked an opponent right after taking a tough challenge, which triggered the red card and sealed Arsenal's exit from the competition via a penalty shootout. The result is a three-match suspension hanging over the young player's head. Arteta made sure there was no confusion about his stance, stating clearly that this situation is not Disneylandia and emphasizing that they are in reality within the Premier League. He confirmed he will protect Dowman as a manager should, but also holds him accountable exactly like any other player in the squad. The message is straightforward: Dowman must earn his place moving forward and learn from these mistakes. Being a top prospect does not exempt players from consequences, and talent never shields a player from facing repercussions. Even with immense potential at such a young age, the rules apply to everyone equally.
