Stormforge Early Access November 10

von 🔫 Not A Real Sugar: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Stormforge looks like Breath of the Wild and survives like Valheim, but it isn't basic. Magical storms have torn the world apart, and you can walk into them and fight through to clear the corruption. It hits Early Access on November 10. Stormforge from Roboto Games takes some of the best parts of Breath of the Wild and Valheim into a new open-world survival adventure. Magical storms have torn the world apart and corrupted the land, so you gather, craft, build, and fight to push that corruption back. The demo features two biomes, the meadows and forest, three classes, some ruins, dungeons, and a boss. You can take the adventure on in co-op or single-player for the more isolated experience. We tried out the mage class in our demo, and combat took a little time to get used to. Stamina and dodging matter, so we couldn't just spam spells all day, but once things clicked, it was really satisfying. The biggest highlight were the aforementioned magical storms. Because they aren't just set pieces, you can actually walk into them. Visibility drops, enemies swarm, and clearing one changes that part of the world for good. It was made even more fun with the Zelda-esque glider, as wind and tornadoes affect how you move around. It's a procedurally generated world, which in a lot of games can be hit or miss, but here the ruins and paths we spotted kept rewarding our curiosity. We spent so long getting distracted by what's that over there that we barely made it to the first boss in the demo. I mean, if that's not a good sign, I don't know what is. All in all, Stormforge is brewing something pretty good. You can play the demo now or wishlist this game on Steam before its November 10th release.
