Hasan discusses AES campaign involvement

    von Silvestre: Hasan Piker

Hasan clarifies his status regarding Abdul El-Sayed, stating he technically never held a formal role in the campaign despite making two stops at different universities early on. He denies that Abdullah al-Sayed ever requested him to stop discussing the candidate on stream, emphasizing his support stems from being an American citizen and public figure with fans across Michigan rather than any official capacity. As a political commentator covering this nationally significant Senate race where the Democrat majority hinges on the outcome, he notes that silence would be a poor job for someone in his position.

Does Abdullah al-Sayed still, do you still talk to him? Do you still, are you still involved in any way in the campaign? I'm not involved in any way in the campaign. And I technically have never been involved in any way in the campaign. I did two campaign stops at two different universities early on with Abdullah al-Sayed and this, you know, caused quite the controversy. But outside of that, my support for Abdullah al-Sayed is, my support is an American citizen. as an American citizen and public figure who has a lot of fans, specifically under the age of 45, all around the country, but especially in Michigan as well. And that's always been the case. But there's been reporting that he actually has called you and said, don't talk about me on the stream. Is that true? No. He's not told me to stop talking about him on stream. If that were the case, I'd be doing a very bad job. Because I saw you were talking about the debate. Yes, and this is a nationally significant race. This is a very significant race. The Democrat Senate majority hinges on this race in some respects. This and many others, certainly, but it's one of them. And I'm a political commentator. Of course I'm going to talk about these races, right? So, no, that has not been a conversation.
