Fake Bankless interview scam warning

    von Kelsey7f: Tech

Damo (thedamooo) nearly got got by a fake Bankless interview setup. Sound check first, then 'Your mic isn't working. Can you share your screen?' and suddenly there's a link plus a terminal command waiting for you. That's where it clicks. If anyone asks you to download or run something before a call, leave. Simple as that

I've had maybe the last two attempts that were very sophisticated social and using attempts. And honestly, I almost fell for one of them. The last one was actually someone had lined up an interview for me with Bankless. And to be honest, I should have just reached out and just confirmed it. But they do like a pre-recording, like a sound test just to make sure that everything's fine. And so I hop on the call and the guy is like there. And it's like a picture. He's like, hey, we're about to get all this stuff ready. We just need to check your mic. Can you know my stuff working? Can you share your screen? And my alarm bell's already going off when someone asks you to share your screen. But then they start sending you links being like, oh, hey, maybe it's like this thing that you don't have. Oh, can you run this command in your terminal? And then from then on, I was like, okay, it's obviously a scam. It's time for me to exit. It's so hard to tell what's real, like especially with these like vision models becoming so advanced and you're going to be speaking with someone live and you don't even know if they're like an AI generation. So just full disclosure, if you ask me to transfer anything or download anything, I'm out. Here we talk Bitcoin, altcoins, and whatever crypto Twitter is arguing about this week. So if you're in that world too, hit that follow button.
