Trump DHS seal Alito ruling

    von Flint: Samuel Alito

Democrat-run cities scrambled to SCOTUS trying to save a Biden rule that let immigration judges stall deportation cases forever. The U.S. Supreme Court shot down the emergency bid with zero noted dissents. Justice Sam Alito was part of the bench that said no. This wasn't just a rejection; it was a BIG WIN for making sure judges actually decide cases instead of dragging them out. Back in June, Texas AG Ken Paxton and the Trump DOJ already vacated that administrative closure rule nationwide. Their move blocked any chance of the government using a similar loophole again. In court arguments, proponents claimed deporting undocumented immigrants would cost taxpayers. That logic didn't fly. Immigration judges must decide deportation cases rather than delaying them indefinitely.
