Arirang

Released on March 20, 2026, Arirang stands as the tenth studio album and sixth Korean-language record by BTS. The project marks the group's first full-length release following a hiatus for mandatory military service that began in late 2023. Recording sessions occurred between July and November 2025 at Big Hit Music, resulting in a collection that blends traditional Korean cultural motifs with experimental global production techniques.

The title draws directly from the centuries-old Korean folk song Arirang, which explores themes of love, longing, resilience, separation, and reunion. This thematic foundation informs the album's diverse sonic palette, described as their most experimental work to date. While the opening tracks lean heavily into hip-hop, later selections incorporate jersey club beats, rock influences, grunge textures, alternative R&B, synth-pop, and electronic sounds. The interlude track "No. 29" notably fuses modern synthesizers and percussion with traditional Korean instruments like the gayageum and buk.

Arirang debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, becoming BTS's seventh album to reach this peak. Commercial performance was historic, particularly regarding physical media. In its first week, the album generated 641,000 album-equivalent units with pure sales reaching 532,000. Vinyl sales accounted for 208,000 units, setting a record for BTS's best sales week for vinyl and representing the largest vinyl sales week for any group in the modern era tracked by Luminate since 1991.
