Boyish Girlfriend

Daichi, a high school student known for his affectionate nature and tendency to blush easily, finds himself hopelessly smitten with Akira, his childhood friend and girlfriend. Akira presents a stark contrast to typical romantic leads; she prefers athletic wear over dresses, dislikes girly accessories, and carries herself with a rough, tomboyish confidence. The narrative explores their daily interactions through short, self-contained chapters that highlight the humor in Daichi finding every aspect of her unconventional personality adorable.

The series began as a webcomic on the author's Twitter account in August 2024 before gaining enough traction to secure an official serialization deal with Square Enix. It started appearing on the Pixiv Comic platform under the Gangan Pixiv brand in March 2025. While the Japanese version continues to release weekly chapters without yet being compiled into tankōbon volumes, English readers can access the work through digital aggregators like Comikey and Manga UP! A physical English volume was released by Comichub/Comic Realms on September 22, 2026.

Acknowledged for its wholesome tone, the story avoids heavy drama or insecurity regarding gender roles. Instead, it focuses on situational comedy, such as the school festival arc where Akira reluctantly wears a cat-eared maid costume despite her usual aversion to feminine attire. This specific scenario underscores the dynamic where Daichi reframes Akira's non-conformist behavior as endearing rather than problematic. As of late 2026, the manga has reached at least Chapter 58.
