Honeybee

Olivia Rodrigo released "Honeybee" as the third track on her third studio album you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, which arrived on June 12, 2026 via Geffen Records. The digital version runs for 3 minutes and 43 seconds, while vinyl pressings feature a shortened edit of 3:09. Rodrigo wrote the lyrics entirely by herself, continuing a pattern of solo authorship from her previous work. Dan Nigro produced the song, utilizing gentle acoustic guitar arrangements and close-miked vocals to establish an intimate mood that stands apart from the rock-driven sound of earlier singles.

The lyrics address the anxiety of entering a new relationship after past heartbreak. The narrator feels safe but remains wary of potential loss. Specific lines such as "let's just walk in the dark, hop the fence in the park" reference the 1999 romantic comedy film Notting Hill, blending cinematic romance with personal vulnerability. Critics placed the song within the "Girl So in Love" section of the album, describing it as a moment of soft optimism before darker themes emerge in later tracks like "cigarette smoke". [bearbeiten]
