Mama, I'm Coming Home

Ozzy Osbourne released "Mama, I'm Coming Home" on November 18, 1991 as the second single from his sixth studio album No More Tears. The track features a collaboration between Osbourne, guitarist Zakk Wylde, and Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister. Lemmy wrote the lyrics which reflect on the passage of time and the desire to return home after years of touring. Musically, the song relies on Wylde's emotive arpeggios and blues-influenced soloing rather than heavy distortion.

Commercially the record reached number 28 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 2 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. It holds a 3x Platinum certification from the RIAA as of January 2025. Critics have praised the emotional depth of the performance with AllMusic calling it one of Osbourne's finest ballads. The song became an anthem for military personnel deployed overseas during the Gulf War due to its themes of longing for home.

The official music video directed by Samuel Bayer shows Osbourne walking through a dimly lit house and has accumulated over 100 million views on YouTube. An alternate version of the video exists with the same directorial vision. At the "Back to the Beginning" concert on July 5, 2025 the track served as the only non-debut album song in Osbourne's final five-song set. [bearbeiten]
