    Prediction markets and primary elections

@gloriaunhingedThe thing I keep coming back to about prediction markets is that they measure uncertainty, not destiny. A 75% chance on a candidate doesn't lock in a win, it just means that in about 75 of 100 comparable cases, that's how it shakes out. Which is why the Washington Post analysis caught my eye: looking across primary elections, candidates ended up winning about as often as the markets said they would. That's the actual value here. Not nailing every single call, but getting the odds honest.

This is a data visualization graphic. The focus is on the accuracy of prediction markets. The graphic displays a scatter plot with shaded diagonal bands, illustrating the relationship between the predicted chance of a candidate winning and the actual percentage of candidates who won. The mood is informative and analytical. A notable detail is the arrow pointing to a cluster of data points with accompanying text explaining a specific finding. ON-SCREEN TEXT: Prediction markets are mostly accurate Through June 18, primary results have largely mirrored market predictions.
